As you saw in a previous blog, I went to India with Heart of Living Yoga. It’s not only a teacher training organisation but a very active charity and while in Rishikesh, we looked for ways to support the flower children and other of the poorest kids there.

These kids are soft, wild, kind, fun, adorable,

On Sundays we did yoga and offered fruits to the kids.

We do yoga, sing Gayatri mantra, share fruits. Apples and grapes are their favourites.
They sell flowers to people giving offerings to the Ganges at aarti.

We also made links with a school and other schemes to help them. Here we were welcomed in a school we’re now sponsoring. They put on dances, songs, a yoga demonstration for us and we did art and sang songs with them.

Great discipline and warmth from the children, dedication and care from their teachers, many of them volunteers.

Yoga like I wish I could do! Very impressive demonstration.

Heart of living Yoga charity supports organisations working with children in many countries: India, Sri Lanka, UK, Brazil, Venezuela, and USA. If you want to contribute, no money is taken from the work, our teacher Rev. Padma devi Sumananda and others work for the charity on a volunteer basis.
