How to choose a Wedding cake
How to choose a wedding cake? English cakes are works of art and can feature any kind of theme and decorations. Icing artists are true artists and the presentations are endless (the flowers on the first picture above were made by one of my grooms, isn’t it clever?)
In France, traditionally, wedding cakes are a piece montee i.e. a pyramid of choux held together by light strands of stiff caramel. I love choux and slightly overdid it for us: we ate choux for a week but I didn’t mind.
In France and in Spain, people sometimes have trolleys with several cakes. The one on the left, in Valencia, was a particularly spectacular one!Cupcake towers have become very popular in England and can be themed just like any other cake. Here, a Vegas theme, a winter one and generally a lot of cuteness.
Other options are just as tasteful. Macaroon towers are becoming popular both in France and in England, and some go even more exotic with baklavas for example.
But however much I love macaroons, choux and baklavas, this cake makes me the hungriest. I love cream and fruits.
So you can be as traditional or as exotic and different as you feel like, go with your tastes, surprise your guests. One more idea: it doesn’t have to be sweet! Have a cheese tower rather than a cheesecake.. or even have both..
