Artistic & Heartfelt Dog Photography

Dog and owner photoshoot capturing a tender moment between a woman and her dog in a sunlit meadow.

As a professional dog photographer for devoted pet owners, I focus on highlighting the unique bond and capturing the true essence of your furry friend.

Dogs bring us the greatest joy and also break our hearts when they go, so savouring each day, and each year with them is priceless. From puppies to the end of life, I capture their unique personality and your special moments together. You can see them grow up and keep them with you forever in photos as well as in your heart.

“Alix did such a fantastic job taking photos of our 5-month-old puppy – she had a great way with him as she clearly loves dogs herself, and so she was able to get the best out of him. The photos are fantastic, and we are so pleased to have captured him at this young age.” – Nick Pollock

TAILORED EXPERIENCE

Dog Photoshoot

I can shoot at your home, garden, or nearby park, or we can go to places special to you. Flowery backgrounds can look gorgeous, and I will look for the best places and light when we meet up.

To get the best angle, I need to be at your dog’s eye level— often lying down on the floor— therefore running shots have to be carefully planned and often repeated. The dog standing, sitting or lying down can be done with them on a leash— I have thin leads and can show you how to hold it for best editing— or, if they are good at staying, with you at my side. Treats are a must to encourage and motivate the dog, whatever they like.

As well as being comfortable and safe, it is best that your dog has had time to explore and run around as much as possible— I know some dogs never run out of energy!— so they are more content and happy to stay when asked. I will ask you what you know they can do in terms of poses and where to position them, as you know them best.

For a dog photography session, you receive five photos with my signature editing that you can choose from your private gallery, with one of them edited in a more artistic style. You can, of course choose, more than five or request additional editing.

Dogs are welcome as part of family photos, and I will also take single photos of them during that time. As a family and pet photographer, I love:

Tips to get the most of a dog photography session

  • Your dog should have had a walk beforehand in the area so they are familiar and hopefully not too excited, or even a bit tired.
  • As they will have been out, it is wise to bring water, food, wipes so your dog is happy and clean.
  • Your dog must remain safe and comfortable and as you know them best, I will follow your guidance as to what is possible and what isn’t. If they are not safe being off leash, I will show you how to hold the leash for the best photo.
  • I shoot at eye level of your dog and use natural light, so I need your dog to remain still except in some running shots that need to be safely arranged, and repeated several times to get the best chance of a great photo.
  • Please bring more treats than you think you’ll need!

What my clients say

We had a photoshoot with Alix for our dog, and they look amazing. She made him so calm and he can be a little temperamental at times with new people, but she made him settle well. She also made us really calm with him being around new people. She was amazing, couldn't recommend enough and the pictures came out fantastic!
