10 tips to take better photos of your family this Christmas
Christmas is a wonderful family occasion so make the most of it and capture these precious moments!
1- The LIGHT: Make the most of natural light- ie before 3 o’clock, by a window, with the curtains pulled wide open (best light ever!) or outdoors (perfect for rosy cheeks!)
2- If it’s too dark to not use the flash, put the ISO higher, and open wider (smaller F stop in AV)
3- If you have to put the lights on, change the white balance from auto to bulb so it’s not too yellow- or aim for black and white photos- timeless.
4- Use other lights: fairy lights, screens..
5- Be mindful of the background, so move to change your viewpoint or to eliminate unwanted things in your image.
6- Shoot high, shoot low, to give a change of perspective.
7-Show the world through their eyes.
8- Capture your favourite people being themselves. No cheesy smile, just them engrossed in whatever they’re doing, and relationships too
9- Don’t forget details, shoot close, tiny feet, older hands, reflections.
10- Let others take photos of you, you are part of the picture too. Everyone will want memories of everyone. Including you.
11- Sorry here is one more: go out, the outdoors are beautiful, even at this time of year!
