Chelsea wedding with reception at The Lanesborough hotel
Weddings are back! it’s such a wonderful feeling to be see people socialise, hug, celebrate, it feels even more precious than before because we know what we went without.
For me it was moving going back to Chelsea registry as it was one of my first weddings, nearly 15 years ago. The registry did everything to minimise the obstacles and dispruptions, there were some transparent screens and guests had to have masks on, but otherwise it looked normal. They’ve added a lovely flowerwall , which is a great backdrop.
I was shocked how busy it was in the streets but we still did a few steps outdoors after the confetti.
Back at the Lanesborough hotel, I must say everything was perfect. the staff were super smart, heart warmingly friendly. I had some of the canapes- the bride insisted and how could I say no? and they were up to their michelin starred reputation, delicious.
The room had been decorated beautifully, everything felt luxurious and perfect.
This had started as a mini-wedding with a party planned for another time in Italy- yes I’ll be going! but it’s impossible not to invite people you care for so they enede up with 2o guests, enough to make it a party and sill within the limits. They didn’t do traditional speeches and coudln’t dance, so they shuffled while their guests sang along their chosen love song called Love and Heart- Amore e Cuore.
It was particularly moving to do this wedding since I’d met the couple years ago and had done their maternity photos.
Overall a fantastic day. We didn’t make time for many couple images so I’ll be going back to London and take time away from guests to concentrate on the couple. It’s usual in Europe to do the couple photos separately, there is no feeling torn between wanting couple photos and wanting to make the most of your guests.
