Christmas family and maternity photoshoot at Beacon Hill and at home in Loughborough
Having a maternity shoot when you already have a child changes the mood and the practicalities of the shoot. Of course you want the child in the photos, but it means that less time is devoted to the bump and to the couple since the child always need to have someone looking after her/ him.
It is important that we communicate well before – and during the shoot so you get exactly what you want, and of courses mixing styles, outfits and locations is possible as you can see here. A mix of natural and posed images, indoors and outdoor, natural light and flash, with some stunning outfits.
This family was very clear about what they wanted and mum bought an amazing dress for the shoot, which isn’t revealing but makes her look like a princess.
We started with some indoors Christmas photos while there was some window light, and I enjoyed taking photos of the little girl just being herself. She is very sweet, very joyful and helpful.
Beacon Hill is a stunning place, particularly at sunset, but it’s also windy so when we drove to Beacon Hill for a few family photos- it was bitterly cold so we couldn’t spend ages there. The little girl’s hands were hurting, even if the lollipop made her feel instantly better and occupied her enough for us to get a few couple shots. Beacon hill has great views, and wonderful features for photos, including very helpful gusts of wind, perfect for flying dresses (and kites).
Back home we took some bare bump photos, and some with less clothes of both mum and the parents together that I won’t show here.
One of my inspirations for photography is classical paintings. Window light and this kind of flash give a similar feel.
And with her features being so graceful and delicate, she could be a beautiful Madonna.
