A Fun and Vibrant Outdoor Couple Photography Session with Dogs

This session started as a dogs photoshoot, but when you’re out for a walk with your fiancé(e) and have a photographer with you, why not capture some beautiful portraits too? While it wasn’t an engagement or couple photoshoot in the traditional sense, it naturally became a couples photo session with dogs celebrating their love and bond with their two adorable pups.
Lua and Rio, a cavapoo and a cockerpoo, brought so much personality to the session. Lua, full of energy, can be reactive to other dogs, while Rio is calm, and easygoing—the dream dog. It was lovely to see their different temperaments shine through in the photos. Lua, especially, couldn’t stand being away from Rio for even a minute—she has separation anxiety when away from him, so every time we focused on Rio, she had to be involved too.
Elvaston Castle is a stunning location for all kinds of photography, whether it’s for portraits, family shoots, couple photoshoots and now I know, perfect for dog photos too. I’ve been there many times, but while scouting the park specifically with a dog photography session in mind, I discovered the nature reserve area including the breathtaking Old English Garden.
As it’s a large park, it’s easy to avoid people and enjoy the photoshoot without feeling observed or intruded upon. There are plenty of paths, different gardens, many beautiful species of trees, and a lake, so it’s varied and great for people of all ages, with or without dogs.
