Family Photographer in Leicestershire
I am very lucky to be a family photographer in Leicestershire, we have such a variety of settings and beautiful outdoor locations. For yesterday’s family portraits we went to the lovely hidden gem that is Burleigh woods in Loughborough. I had scouted the other woods: Swithlands, Jubilee, Outwoods but found Burleigh woods to be the best.
As usual, I wanted the family to have fun and spend some quality time together to capture real expressions and the connection between them. This time we stayed more static than usual so as not to trample the lovely flowers too much. It was a mini-session- that they got as a Christmas present- so we didn’t make time to change location and run around.
Each age range has its beauty and charm. I love working with kids but teens and pre-teens are really interesting too as they show more maturity and are still connected to their family while starting to become independent. I love working with grannies too and Gran joined us for a few photos. The bond between generations is very moving and the relationship quite different from the parent-child one.
Sophie was really caring, looking out for her little brother and was spotted buttoning his shirt and doing very motherly things, which I found touching. Sam was full of beans and crinkled his nose and showed his missing front teeth a lot, he is the life of the party and is both fun and very loving and cuddly. Both parents were fun and attentive while giving the kids the support and distance they needed. Gran was camera-shy but I love her smile and vitality, and her love for these kids is obvious.
Let me know what you think and get in touch if you’d like some natural, fun photos of you and your family. I shoot family portraits outdoors or at your home, in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and sometimes further afield. Alix
