Mel and Kevin had a humanist wedding. They employed a celebrant who wrote a ceremony that reflected their non-religious beliefs so the ceremony was meaningful and relevant to them as a couple. It highlighted their values as well as their commitment. Both mums lit a candle, which they used to light a unity candle engraved with their names and wedding date, representing two families becoming one. It is a beautiful ritual and many traditions include lighting a candle or a fire.

I love the details: the joke as a favour, the beautiful light letters, the reflections in the old mirror. The light in the building is really lovely and warm and their first dance has so much movement and connection. It was a beautiful ceremony, totally personal to the couple who really spent time and concentration writing their vows in a way that stressed their individuality and their common values.
