Nottingham Home Birth Photographer – Part 2: the baby!

Yes we all know time flies, but there are some moments in life when every minute makes a difference and the first hours ( and days, and months) of a baby are one of these times. I remember listening to Woodie Guthrie’s one day old song while changing nappies and I remember thinking OMG already 4 days old! Days that can’t come back, already!

When I photograph a birth, I can’t just leave when baby arrives. I have waited and cried and laughed, and kept my fingers and toes crossed too, I am sleep deprived too – I once stayed 21 hours! I can’t just go home, I want to make the most of what’s left of me to meet that precious miracle of a baby.

Can you see how much he’s changed already? His face, the shape of his head- much rounder at the end, I’m glad to say. And the range of expressions? it’s amazing! How fast he grows, each day a differnt chapter or at least paragraph. Yes it can feel that teething or tantrums last forever but when you look back it was “only” a few months.
