Be who you want to be! Romantic portrait photographer Derby

I totally understand being shy in front of the camera, believe me, I feel awkward too. So usually I get people to interact and kind of forget me, but when you’re alone and want beautiful photos of yourself- for a birthday, or just to celebrate yourself, what to do? well you could PRETEND you are confident. You could BE someone else. Like a medieval princess. That way, you can act confident, you can play a role, have fun, let parts of you out that don’t get to play often. 

I had found that amazing dress second hand and I was super keen to have someone model it, so I was really happy when Stephy– you have seen her here before- agreed to do romantic portraits in Elvaston Castle.

This beautiful princess whose birthday we were celebrating doesn’t see her own beauty but as an actress, she can find it in her to play the role of the confident princess. And the best thing is that when we play a role, it is still us, we literally can’t play anything we are not, so it is not just pretending we are confident, it is letting ourselves be confident without the voice in our head putting ourselves down. 

You might have heard the expession fake it till you make it. I think t’s what it’s about: that we pretend we can’t be confident when a part of us can be, it just doesn’t feel allowed to be, so for fun, we pretend we can be anything, and then.. we can be anything. Isn’t that amazing!

Or you can just have beautiful photos of you taken in whatever outfit and decor you want, and as long as you feel good about them, it’s really you, with all your expressions,  shining on the photos.
