Big family photoshoot in Ashbourne
When people book me for big family photos, what they have in mind is big groups, and we do these. I also do small groups, for example grandparents and grandchildren, grandchildren together, siblings, couples, smaller family units and whoever wants to be with someone else, Kids can say what they want too, it’s their photoshoot as well. and then I just stay and watch, capture the kids being kids, people catching up and sharing news or a laugh. I suggest games and it makes people laugh, and reach out to each other. The warmth is real, nobody has to look at the camera. There might be people who don’t like to look at the camera, who don’t like being watched, so it takes time for them to relax. No need to rush.
There might be areas to explore, bubbles to blow, tig to play or anything else. When you watch these you might wonder what they were doing. They were six siblings, five daughters and a young man, the baby of the lot, so his sisters were dotting on him and his parents were still cuddling their last child about to fly the nest. There was also a photo from their childhood they wanted to recreate. It did get me in stitches. I love the unique way people show love to each other, we’re all unique and precious.
I’d never shot in Ashbourne and the park was spacious for all the different angles. I think my favourites are the children portraits- I show them how a camera works- and the kids in the field, walking and running. What about you?
