Family Photoshoot at Elvaston Castle in Autumn
Elvaston Castle is a great place for family photoshoots and I have already done quite a few there, but not in autumn, until now. The family had heard my recommendations in terms of colours and they were all in harmony with each other and the season. I had met mum at a wedding so she already liked my work and it’s always lovely seeing people again, especially where there are new additions to the family.
Kairo was only tiny but so well behaved, mum was even worried that he’d be hungry without protesting. I can see why it would be worrying! Sessions usually last up to two hours so he wasn’t really starving, but never lost patience, never got bored, he must like the outdoors.
We walked around a bit, trying different areas for best colours and fun, and ended in the English Garden. I had seen it in spring and it was spectacular so I was very keen to see it in autumn.
The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren seems quite magical. I don’t have grandkids – yet- so I can only witness it and hear how different from everything else it seems to be. I also like capturing other relationships: siblings, best uncle, mum and daughter.. it’s all priceless.
With all these amazing autumn colours, you might wonder why I chose a black and white photo for the title one. They had many group photos but my favourite ones are the photos with a story, where people are talking or getting ready, it feels more alive, more intriguing than when everyone looks at the camera.
If you’d like a family photoshoot in autumn, please get in touch very soon as leaves don’t last!
