Newborn Baby and Family Photoshoot in Leicester

At-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography with Older Sibling

Family Portraits by Lumière Photography

I remember listening to a song after my firstborn arrived: one day old, two days old, three days old. Time moved so quickly, and it felt like my baby was growing before my eyes. At the same time, the thought of organising a photoshoot felt like far too much.

You may still be recovering—hurting, your tummy still swollen, your stitches pulling. You want to rest, to relax. Your house might not feel “photoshoot-ready,” or you simply want to soak in this new chapter without added stress. That’s why at-home newborn photography is perfect. I come to you, making the most of your space, natural light, and genuine family connections—there’s no need for a pristine home or anything “perfect.”

This newborn session in Leicester was particularly special because it included Yuvan’s big brother. Newborn photography with siblings brings its own dynamics, especially when a child needs extra time and space to adjust to a new baby—or the idea of being photographed. Yuvan’s big brother was unsettled by all the changes: a new sibling, a stranger in his home, and being asked to be in photos. But by letting him be himself and capturing the moments that naturally unfolded, we created something truly beautiful. Who says you can’t be upside down to kiss mum anyway?

Newborn Portraits with a Black Background

I’d never done black background photos for a newborn before, but I loved how these turned out. The simplicity of the black backdrop draws all focus to the baby—their tiny features, their peaceful stillness, their delicate expressions. It’s artistic, timeless, and beautifully intimate. I’d love to do more of these—what do you think?

Why At-Home Baby and Family Photoshoots Are Perfect

When you already have an older child, life feels full—and sometimes overwhelming. Newborn and sibling photography is about celebrating your new baby while honouring the family dynamic that’s already there. At home, everyone can simply be themselves: older siblings can play, cuddle, or even step away for a moment. It allows me to focus on capturing real, meaningful moments of connection—unposed and authentic.

If you’re looking for newborn photography in Leicester or newborn and sibling photography that feels relaxed, natural, and tailored to you, I’d love to help. Whether it’s timeless black background portraits, lifestyle family sessions, or something unique to your story, let’s create memories you’ll treasure forever.

I have many other newborn photoshoots at home, this one for example.
